Derek Mason is an artist who lives and works in London. His current portrait and figure drawings are observational yet experiment with mark-making to portray the dynamism of the individual.

The work

All drawings here are from live sessions, completed in one sitting with the model. A time limit to each pose requires an intense focus and adds a stimulating tension to the creative process.

Derek's work is characterised by expressive line and form, embracing and relishing the natural qualities and capabilities of the media used.
